1. Introduction

Welcome to ReelText (“ReelText,” “we,” “us,” “our”). By accessing or using our ReelText mobile application and related services (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms of Use (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Eligibility

  • You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service.
  • You can register or sign in via Google or Apple. We receive only the minimum data needed for authentication in line with their policies.

3. User Accounts

  • Account Registration: We currently collect your email address for login. [We may collect additional optional information (e.g., name) in future updates.]
  • Security: Keep your login credentials confidential. You are responsible for any actions taken under your account.

4. Subscriptions & Payments

  • Free Usage & Trials: We offer a free plan with limited AI credits and may offer trial periods for new users.
  • Paid Subscriptions: Managed via RevenueCat, which communicates with Apple App Store or Google Play Store. By subscribing, you agree to their respective billing terms.
  • Cancellations & Refunds: You may cancel your subscription at any time using Apple’s or Google’s subscription settings or the in-app membership management feature. Refunds follow Apple/Google’s policies.

5. Use of the Service

  • You agree to use the Service in compliance with all applicable laws.
  • Summaries: The Service generates text summaries from video or other content. You are responsible for ensuring you have the rights to any content you summarize, share, or copy.
  • AI Disclaimer: Summaries are produced by AI. We do not guarantee accuracy, reliability, or completeness. You are responsible for verifying any information you rely on.

6. Intellectual Property

  • ReelText IP: We (or our licensors) own all intellectual property rights in our app, branding, and proprietary technology.
  • Your Content: You retain rights to the Summaries you create. By using the Service, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store and display these Summaries solely for the purpose of providing and improving the Service.

7. Privacy & Data Protection

  • We collect personal data as described in our Privacy Policy. By using the Service, you consent to these data practices.
  • If you are located in the UK or EU, we comply with applicable data protection laws, including the UK Data Protection Act [and the EU GDPR if relevant].

8. Compliance with Third-Party Terms

  • YouTube API: Where we incorporate YouTube content or metadata, you acknowledge that you must comply with YouTube’s Terms of Service and that we only gather minimal data as permitted.
  • You agree not to violate any third-party IP or distribution rights.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

  • “As Is” & “As Available”: To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including suitability, accuracy, and non-infringement.
  • We do not guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

10. Limitation of Liability

  • In no event shall ReelText, its affiliates, or licensors be liable for indirect, special, or consequential damages arising out of the use or inability to use the Service.
  • Maximum Liability: Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months prior to the incident, or £100 if you have not paid any fees.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold ReelText, its officers, employees, and agents harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your breach of these Terms or violation of any third-party rights.

12. Dispute Resolution & Governing Law

  • These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
  • Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in the UK.

13. Modifications & Termination

  • We reserve the right to modify or discontinue any aspect of the Service without notice.
  • We may update these Terms over time. By continuing to use the Service after updates, you accept the revised Terms.
